9. Dieter Eiselen

Dieter Eiselen is an interesting name to keep an eye on. He was initially a UDFA from the Ryan Pace era, so we were not sure if Ryan Poles even wanted him back or not. It is clear he did, and it may have been the last few weeks that saved him.

With Lucas Patrick injured, and Doug Kramer going to the IR after his preseason game, the team called on Eiselen to take snaps at center. Eiselen was a guard and never played center.

Then, in the final two preseason game he was snapping the football as the backup center. His willingness to compete and transition positions likely increased his trust with the coaching staff.

Still, while they like that he can play center, they do not want him there, and with Lucas Patrick getting healthy he is now further away. It is nice to have the versatility, though and that surely helped Chicago decide to keep him.
