The CBS mock draft saves face as Chicago Bears select Will Anderson

I will at least admit to the fact that the CBS mock at least made the correct choice for the Chicago Bears in drafting Will Anderson, Jr. over Jalen Carter. I understand that the 3-technique is important to this defense, but Anderson is the slam dunk in this draft. Carter comes with some concerns and taking a defensive tackle in the top five is just not the best value.

Anderson might no fit the prototypical frame of a down, defensive end, but he is easily the best prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft and you cannot go wrong selecting him at fourth overall. It is only the return that the Bears received from the Colts that is the issue. I also don’t see this draft playing out this way as CBS has the Texans take a quarterback at two (makes sense) but they also have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trading up to three to draft Will Levis. The Cardinals don’t get enough of a return to go from three to 19 either, but that’s not the main point.

This quarterback class is not that strong. I do not foresee three quarterbacks going in the first three picks. They just are not good enough for that. If you were to tell me that three were to be selected in the top 10 I’d believe you. That would make more sense. It’s hard to take this mock draft seriously when the trades are not of proper value and a weak quarterback class is going one, two and three. At least the Chicago Bears landed the best prospect in Will Anderson. Maybe he has a Mark Anderson-type of a rookie season in 2023.
