Takeaway No. 2 from Matt Nagy Interview: Nagy realizes he made mistakes

This might be an obvious takeaway, but there were plenty of people that thought Nagy didn’t care about the Chicago Bears due to his poor coaching results following his 12-4 season.

That being said, to this day, Matt Nagy still cares about the Chicago Bears. He cares about the people who helped him along his way, and he’s grateful for his time in Chicago— even if it went poorly the last couple of seasons.

"“A lot of people may think different about how I feel, and it’s not that way,” Nagy said. “I know great things are ahead for [the Bears]. I have a ton of respect for everybody there, and I’m very very grateful for that opportunity.”"

It’s easy to think that Nagy would be bitter about his final year in particular with the Chicago Bears, and maybe this was just a face he put up since there’s been some time away from the team, but it truly sounded like Nagy was truly grateful for his time in Chicago.

It clearly didn’t go the way he planned, but to say Matt Nagy didn’t care about the team once they split ways is simply untrue.

Fans can still dislike him to their core, but the feelings aren’t mutual.

Sure, Chicago Bears fans should certainly move on from Matt Nagy if he causes their blood to boil, but at the end of the day, Matt Nagy wasn’t a malicious guy with ill intent towards the Chicago Bears.

He was an inexperienced head coach who was leading a team in one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL. When he was doing well, people loved him. But, when the tides turned, the city did as well.
