Tight end John Gilmore is spending the day with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and evaluating a three year offer from the team. It would be a good move for Gilmore considering the Bears have Desmond Clark and Greg Olsen locked up at tight end. He could get good playing time and is a quality tight end. I wish him well.
Lance Briggs is also reportedly going to visit with Tampa Bay, but I would be shocked if he signs with anyone other than the San Francisco 49ers, who will probably offer him the big contract he is hoping to land this [...]

Free Agent Updates
I have admit that I am at a loss for the recent reports coming out of Halas Hall. The Bears are convinced that Mark Bradley and Devin Hester are ready to contribute at wide receiver, despite the showcasing of their limitations last season. Muhsin Muhammed is about to sign a deal to put him back with the Carolina Panthers, a great move for him to return to a team where he was a fan favorite. Bernard Berrian is officially a free agent and the Bears have given him an offer that not surprisingly Berrian felt was too [...]
Grossman Gets One More Year
The Chicago Bears decided to bring back QB Rex Grossman for at least one more season.
Grossman signs one-year deal with $3 million in base salary – ESPN
Grossman wanted to stay with the Bears, and Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and coach Lovie Smith wanted to give him one more chance to stay as their starting quarterback. On Saturday, each side worked out a deal in order for the relationship to continue.
“It’s still a great opportunity for him [in Chicago],” his agent, Eugene Parker, told ESPN.com.
Under terms of the deal, Grossman will have a $3 million base salary. He can [...]
Veteran Fire Sale
The Chicago Bears joined the Miami Dolphins and probably a few more teams before the official beginning of free agency. The Bears cut veteran wide receiver Muhsin Muhammed, offensive tackle Fred Miller, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker. The major significance will be on the Bears salary cap, which opens up $15.6 million in open space to sign new talent.
Suddenly the chances of bringing in difference makers like running Michael Turner and right guard Alan Faneca seems much more likely. The Bears don’t seem to be in any hurry to bring back guard Ruben Brown and Faneca is [...]
Deep Sea Fishing
For the past year I have been a strong supporter of Rex Grossman and the need of the Bears to get key players like offensive tackle and safety before they worry about getting a new quarterback. However, I can’t help but think HOLY CRAP, SIGN TRENT GREEN!!
Yesterday, Bill Parcells, Miami’s new Head of Football Operations made his biggest move to correct a team that went 1-15 that season. Nine players were cut from the team in a decision that the team needs to go in a drastically different direction. In an NFL where teams covet their star players, Miami cut [...]
