The NFL announced the Chicago Bears will receive three compensatory draft picks for the upcoming draft. The system is designed the award additional draft choices to teams that lose players that sign large contracts with other teams. Interestingly, the system doesn’t measure the talent of the departed player, but the size of the contract signed by the player with his new team. No doubt the large contract Bernard Berrian helped the NFL’s decision to give the Bears a few extra chances in the draft.
The Chicago Bears now have the 14th pick in the first round, the 13th pick in the [...]

Bears Debut in Prime Time
Set your schedule for September 7, 2008, but better make it 7:00 instead of 12:00. The Chicago Bears will start the 2008 season playing against the Indianapolis Colts in Indianapolis for Sunday Night Football. The rematch of last year’s Super Bowl will serve as the ceremony to open up the Colts brand new stadium.
Emotions will be running high for the Colts and the match up almost has that feeling when your high school football team couldn’t get their arch rival to play them for Homecoming, so they settled for a team they knew they could slaughter and have a good [...]

Thank You 49′ers!
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ruled that the San Francisco 49′ers tampered with then free agent Lance Briggs and force them to forfeit their 5th round draft pick. He also ordered the teams to exchange third round draft picks, moving the Bears from the 12th pick in the 3rd round, up to the 7th pick of the 3rd round. The move gives the Bears stronger positioning in a very important draft to rebuilt the offense or use it for potential draft trades.
The significance of 5 spots could be huge for a Bears team that will likely look to the [...]
Let’s Review
With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, teams must make constant revisions of their drafting formula based on free agency. So before we jump too far into draft talk, let’s review the free agency status of the Chicago Bears.
The Bears made the surprising move of re-signing Lance Briggs, but let Bernard Berrian go to Minnesota and Muhsin Muhammed go to Carolina. Brendon Ayanbadejo is now a Baltimore Raven, and reports indicate that several teams are asking about Rashied Davis. Fred Miller and Ruben Brown are both gone and John Gilmore is a Tampa Bay Buc. The Bears replaced the wide receiver [...]
Bears Sign Lloyd
The Bears made another move to boost the wide receiver position by signing wide receiver Brandon Lloyd from the Washington Redskins. Lloyd has shown flashes of talent in his six year career but has never translated it into big success. However, his presence allows the Bears to have a speedy, talented wide receiver on the field to force defenses to keep a player back to prevent a big play.
The Bears only signed him to a one-year deal, showing that Lloyd is more of a temporary fix, mostly likely an insurance policy at wide receiver if Devin Hester requires another year [...]
Booker Returns to Bears
Well I must say I’m speechless at this point. The Bears have completely shocked all conventional wisdom on how to proceed this offseason by making no attempt to sign a free agent running back or lineman, resigning Lance Briggs, letting Bernard Berrian go to the rival Minnesota Vikings, and now they have resigned wide receiver Marty Booker to a two-year contract. This certainly changes the landscape of the Bears, who regain a Pro Bowl wide receiver, even if he is old and past his prime.
Booker comes in as the number 1 receiver for the offense, a veteran leader entering his [...]
Favre Retires!
Wake the neighbors! Wake the kids! Brett Favre has retired! Yes, it’s for real this time. Don’t look at me like that, I swear he really did. No, it didn’t leak out of a website or from an undisclosed source, the team announced it was official.
Bears fans are finally rid of Brett Favre and his obnoxious last moment touchdown passes and sudden escapes from blitzing linebackers that has driven us mad for years. We’ll miss your child-like excitement to play the game and play it well every game. We’ll miss your [...]
