Walter Payton Open Thread

Posted by: Boomer

Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of Chicago Bears legend Walter Payton’s passing.  I grew up watching Payton,  my first childhood hero.  Here’s a Payton tribute video I dug up on YouTube.  If this doesn’t get you going, nothing will.

That dude ran with more heart than anyone playing the game today.  He wanted to deliver the blow on every run.  Can you imagine how many more yards he could have gained if he played behind the offensive lines that Emmit Smith did?

Post your Sweetness stories, memories and tributes in the comments section below.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES WALTER!!!

Walter Payton is the reason why I am a Bear Fan today!! I grew up watching him and loved the way he always gave it everything he had. He was a class act on and off the field. Forever in my heart!!

I was lucky enough to get an autograph from Walter on a football i display in my Bears shrine, although it is the crown jewel of my collection…I actually got it at training camp the summer before Walter passed, so it was really lucky. and actually, Boomer handed Walter the ball to sign along with the pen, because i was too nervous and in awe of being that close to Sweetness. i will never forget the memories!!!
