Faneca Question - Answered

You probably won’t like the answer to The Alan Faneca Question.  The answer?  Not Chicago.  New York Jets’ castoff Faneca is reportedly re-uniting with former offensive line coach Russ Grimm in Arizona.  Faneca played under Grimm back in Pittsburgh at the height of his career.

I’ve already presented some numbers showing why he may or may not be a good fit.  In my unscientific poll, BGO readers overwhelmingly wanted to bring him to town, with nearly half of all readers suggesting that we get him only if he comes cheap.  The deal is said to be a 1-year pact worth about $2.5 million.  Is $2.5 mildo cheap enough?  That’s tip money for the McCaskey’s at the yacht club.  This deal should have been made.

Boom…I just pulled this off of ESPN Insider:

The signing of OG Alan Faneca by the Arizona Cardinals reunited the veteran with head coach Ken Whisenhunt and assistant head coach Russ Grimm, as all three men spent time together with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Faneca’s skills seem to be in decline by the metrics we’ve seen; nevertheless, he appears to be in line to start for the Cards in 2010.

As Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic notes, the team now has an abundance of players at guard, and “a trade wouldn’t be surprising.” Obviously, Faneca won’t be the one on the move, which leaves Deuce Lutui — who has yet to sign his tender — Reggie Wells, Rex Hadnot and Jeremy Bridges as the trade fodder.

COuld you imagine Lutui and Tommie at training camp??? Might be a pay-per-view event!!!
