Bears Don't Rank in CBS Sports' Power Rankings

CBS Sports recently published their absurdly early Power Rankings.   Click the all-too-tiny images to link to the site to get a closer look to see where the Bears fall.

Keep going…

Preseason rankings are worthless – just ask SI’s Peter King.  How did that work out for him?  Anyway, the Bears checking in at #24.  24?  As in there are 23 other teams better?  I’ve been very vocal in my pessimism for the upcoming season, but really?  24?  That seems awfully low.

Prisco ranks the Packers and an assuming Favre returns Vikings at 5 and 6 respectively.  Is there really that much of a gap between the Bears and the cream of the NFC North crop?

i think the sadder thing is we are only 5 spots ahead of a Detroit team that won 2 games last year…

  • pchav

HaHa!! I laugh at this crap there is know way 23 teams should be ranked higher that the Bears! We will prove them wrong this year!

  • The real Jay

This ranking is flawed. 24th? Get the h— out of hear. They got the panthers ranked ahead of us and we signed their best player. F L A W E D!

  • City

The sad thing is… other than Carolina, I think an argument can be made that every team listed above the Bears could (and maybe should) be listed there.

Name a team that we look better than: Washington, Miami, Jacksonville, a fading Pittsburgh, San Fran. I think these are all question marks. But other than those 5 (and Carolina), that puts us 19th tops. Still bottom half of the league.

  • Windy Cynic

City is right, we’re treading water in a rising division. Miami, Pittsburgh and San Fran are probably better. I think this ranking is an accurate reflection.

The games still need to be played and injuries occur, but the gains we made in free agency were balanced by our losses and the Oline was ignored. Shuffling the deck chairs.

If Tice creates a miracle, maybe he deserves a shot at the head job next season.

iam a die hard bear fan they need a go to receiver

Sadly I think 24 seems fair, maybe a few spots low. While I think they have had as good an offseason as could have been expected so far there’s really no telling how this will pan out until everyone gets on the field. On the positive side it’ll make for a more exciting season should they prove everyone wrong.

The big flaw I see here is San Deigo. #3? Really? I think I’ve heard “this is the year” for them to make the superbowl before every season for like the last 10 years. Enough already.

I love when they do this ! Bears have less pressure and will win NFC watch and see
