Babin Lands With Eagles, Bears Miss Again

So far the headline for Bears fans has been the guys that they haven’t gotten rather than the guys that they have gotten.  Add another name to that list now that former Titans defensive end Jason Babin has landed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

From an e-mail from Adam Schefter (not to me of course!):

"“Philadelphia reached agreement with former Tennessee Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin on a five-year contract, according to a league source. Last season in Tennessee, playing for now Eagles defensive line coach Jim Washburn, Babin had 11.5 sacks. He now teams with Trent Cole to give the Eagles one of the league’s best end combinations.”"

With the huge investment the Bears made in Julius Peppers last season, I never really believed that they would spend big cash on another defensive end.  The Bears will likely go to battle with Pep, Izzy Idonije, Corey Wooten and Henry Melton as the primary ends.

I expect the Bears to spend to bolster the interior defensive line by re-signing Anthony Adams and possibly adding Cullen Jenkins, whose chances of coming here are diminishing with the Cowboys and Redskins believed to be in hot pursuit.
