Bears Sign Seven to Practice Squad

The Bears signed seven players to their practice squad on Sunday with one spot still open.  Here are the signings, from ChicagoBears.com:

"The group includes wide receiver Kris Adams, guard Ricky Henry, tackle Levi Horn, defensive tackle Jordan Miller, tight end Andre Smith, linebacker Patrick Trahan and safety Anthony Walters. All seven players originally joined the Bears as undrafted free agents; Horn last season and the other six this year."

I like Kris Adams as a developmental wide receiver.  He’s got decent size and with a year with an NFL strength and conditioning coach, he could round into shape.  Andre Smith turned a few heads at tight end and could contribute down the road.  Not sure about the offensive line prospects but let’s hope they’re not pressed into action any time soon.

There’s still one spot open on the practice squad.  I suspect that Winston Venable will get released when the Bears officially sign Brandon Meriweather and that they’ll try to add him to the last remaining spot.

While the Bears still scan for other veterans, no one on the practice squad and bottom end of the 53-man roster are too safe.
