Bear Goggles On Staff Makes 2011 NFL Predictions

Happy Kickoff Day!  The Packers and the Saints will kick off the season and officially end one of the most painful offseasons ever.  If I never type the word “lockout” again, it will be too soon.  It’s never too early to start looking ahead and make some predictions for the season.  I’ve asked our staff writers and contributors to pick the division winners, wild card teams and pick a Super Bowl winner.  It gives me plenty of ammo to talk smack at how little we really know.

Last season, all our writers picked the Packers to win the NFC North and only two had the Bears qualifying for the postseason.   A couple actually had the Packers winning the Super Bowl.  Notice that they’re no longer here, even if they were right!  We can’t have any closet Packer backers on this site!

Enough setup, here are the predictions for your long-awaited and much anticipated 2011 NFL Season.

A lot of our playoff teams are the same, even though there are a few different champions.  All of our writers like the AFC to win the Super Bowl.  I guess if our Bears can’t win it, we can’t give it to a conference rival.  A couple of us left the Bears out of the postseason.  If you’d like to see how we came up with our Bears predictions, check back on Friday for our monster Staff Writers Prediction Post, where we predict all 16 Bears games.  It’s true, we have no lives.

What do you think?  What are your picks?   Who are your sleeper teams?  Which team not on our lists will sneak up on everyone?

Looking forward to a great season.  We’ll be here every step of the way.  Join us!

Kind of looks like you’re all giving a little too much love to the Packers by handing them the division when we all know the Founding Franchise will maintain its reign ahead the North.

Given the shakiness of the Bears at the moment, they might not be division winners, but I just don’t see them finishing behind the Lions. The Lions are on their way up in the world, but the Bears still have stronger fundamentals, assuming their jury-rigged O-line holds together the way it did in the preseason.

Your counterparts over at SideLion Report predict that the Lions will go 10-6, but I’m taking that with a grain of salt the size of Big Cat Williams.

Being the defending champs and bringing back a bunch of guys that ended the season on IR gives the Pack an edge in my book. Just things too many things went right for the Bears last season to count on them to repeat as division champs. @lindemrm

You’re assuming a big if about the O-line and we’re also assuming we make it through the season healthy. Any injuries on defense could be devastating, esp to ‘Lach, Briggs, Pep or Peanut. @venomlash
