A Letter from a Disgruntled Bears Fan "I Feel Sick"

Editor’s note: This e-mail was in my inbox first thing this morning.  Sometimes the words of a true fan best express the emotion of the day after a woeful performance in a 24-13 loss to the Detroit Lions.

I feel sick

Guys please post this….I too am a lifelong bears fan. I grew up far from Chicago and now live even farther away. I’ve had Sunday ticket since you had to pay for the equipment and attend every away game on the eastern seaboard. In fact I have tickets for the bears/eagles game this year.

The o line is nothing short of horrendous. Receivers are short and can’t catch. Tight ends have no experience. The defense makes me want to cry at the fall from grace. But the thing that makes me foam at the mouth is Lovie smith being out coached every week.

Poor use of time outs, challenges, and general play calling is unforgiving. Why wouldn’t the he kick a field goal with 20-30 seconds left. It’s a two possession game anyway. Just one example of the coach that barely resembles a human. Why can’t he get pissed once in a while. It isn’t high school football where you are gonna hurt kids feelings. Show some Damn emotions!

Oh and note to Jerry Angelo….the team is only getting older. Time to pay Forte, get some linemen, ask God for a receiver, fire Smith and take Martz with him. Please forgive my grammar. This email is from a phone I threw at my TV in the third quarter.

My sentiments exactly, like literally. I am a life-long bears fans and native New Yorker and I too traveled to every northeast game I could get to. The best part for the 06 superbowl run for me was that I got to see the Bears live in New York (twice) and in New England. Words can’t express how infuriated I am to watch the same mistakes over and over, to watch every move turn out to be the wrong one. I feel like there’s a few games every year where Lovie decides to go for it on third, and then fourth, and one in a close game when at this same time Martz decides the only play he has in his encyclopedic playbook is to give it to Forte up the middle. I love Forte, I am firmly in the camp that the Bears should have paid him long ago, and he does many things exceptionally well, but picking up any ‘and one’ situation is not one of those things. We know this, opponents know this, the talking heads know this, but Lovie and Martz seem to forget this on a regular basis. Every time I watch Omifoul false star or get absolutely lit up, often times one right after the other, I’m reminded of Jerry’s comment that “the Bears did more than anybody to improve the offensive line”. He should have been fired, or publicly executed, on the spot for making such a dumb comment. I know this isn’t what a fan does but part of me really wants to root against the Bears for the rest if the season. I feel like a 2-14 season would bring about the sort of purge this team desperately needs.

I’m a die-hard Lions fan. I would like o say that Cutler did a phenomenal job improvising against our D-Line. It was a good game after all was said and done. GO LIONS!!!
