Bears Safety Shuffle – Here Comes Fun Bad!!!

facebooktwitterreddit

Imagine if you will, a kid who tried to run across a set of railroad tracks and got his shoelace stuck in a railroad tie while the train rumbled towards him…he was stuck, hopeless, facing impending doom…no, Superman did not come to save the day…sadly, the train kept coming and the kid was quickly turned into a digusting, bloody, lifeless mess…my friends, the Bears are that kid stuck on the tracks…but good news, fans, we might be quickly transitioning to FUN BAD (borrowing a phrase from Dan Bernstein of the Score Sports Radio 670)!!!  Michael C. Wright of ESPN is reporting that the Bears will be benching both starting safeties from last week, Chris Harris and Brandon Merriweather, in favor of Major Wright and Chris Conte…follow me to the other side for my thoughts on this…

Alright, I am not going to sit here and be an apologist for Harris and Merriweather, because they both had subpar, ok awful, games on Monday night, but they are veterans and they know better than anyone that they need to play better.  Now, I had a front row seat for the Major Wright/Chris Conte experience in New Orleans and I think Devery Henderson is still running untouched…I am not saying a change wasn’t needed, but Merriweather is just starting out in Lovie’s Cover-2 and Chris Harris was playing in his first game since week 1.  I don’t understand why our “brilliant” coaching staff wouldn’t try to COACH UP our two most experienced safeties instead of throwing Major Liability and Chris Con’te Cover in the secondary in a do or die game, if we still have one left in us, on a short week no less!  I am sorry, but this makes NO SENSE to me.  Who knows…maybe this will light a fire and Harris and Merriweather will only have to endure sitting for the first series, hence not start, but this is ridiculous.  Our coaching staff talks about coaching their players all the time and in a must-win division game we want to start our B-team in the secondary…help talk me off the ledge, kids, because I am at a loss.

In other news, Frank OmiFail will be benched in favor of Lance Louis at RT and Edwin Williams will anchor the RG spot.  Ok, we could all see this coming, but I don’t think this move will slow down the advent of FUN BAD from being upon us.  If anything, this thing could get FUNNER and BADDER really, really quickly!!!

CAN I GET AN AMEN?!?!?!?!?!

The DeCon has spoken, so let it be written, so let it be done…
