Cutler's Words Strike Again

It’s been an eventful past couple of days for Bears quarterback Jay Cutler since the team’s 41-21 season opener victory over the Indianapolis Colts. For starters, Cutler gave some controversial advice to the Soldier Field fans, saying “Please, please, please let’s tone it down a little bit when we’re on the 20″ during his post-game press conference. While many people backed Cutler’s words, including head coach Lovie Smith, others chalked up the quarterback’s words to his somewhat arrogant persona.

Now, before the dust has even settled, Cutler has words for a new group of people — the Green Bay Packers’ secondary. This time, Cutler’s cockiness could come back to haunt him.

When asked about the Packers’ press coverage and tendency to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage, Cutler replied “Good luck”.

“We’ve got some dudes that, if you’re gonna get up in their face, even our speed guys are gonna get around them, and our big guys are gonna throw and go,” Cutler said during his Tuesday press conference. “So we invite press coverage. We invite man (coverage). If we get that type of game, our guys outside have to make some plays for us.”

I’m all for confidence. I’m all for having faith in yourself and your new weapons on offense, Jay. But please, please, please let’s tone it down a little bit when it comes to taunting an already pissed off defense that has owned you in the past.

God, i tire of cowardly Chicago sports fans. What Cutler doing is SMART. Green Bay’s corners would be absolute morons to try and jam Marshall and Jeffrey and Cutler knows it. He’s trying to bait them into trying. This is called gamesmanship. Look it up.

A great pointt…but lost on moroons who fear their own biases towards the Bear’s and their opponents more than they believe in the abilities of Cutler and the Bears!

I agree with Jay…tick them off and get them wanting to prove they can cover man to man…Marshall one on one…good luck with that Green Bay…Jeffery one on one..even this rookie would love tht chance…and who gets the nlucky straw to try to cover Hester one on one…and while they are dong all this…who covers Forte, Rodriguez, Bush ???? Green Bay’s defense is not that gret in the secondary, actually pretty mediocore there…and their overall passing defense is not even ranked in the top ten….BEaR DOWN!

      Good luck indeed.

Why would Jay need to tone down anything. Any adult male knows what the sports world is all about It’s about trash talk. I don’t even consider that trash talk. No one on that team fears Green Bay, nor should they. To be even more specific the last couple of meeting between the two teams were decided by 7 to 10 points. That’s not owning anyone. The games were competitive. The bears are confident and they should be. The offense is dramatically better than 2011 and they still have a very solid defensive unit.
