NFL.com is going through their annual post-draft, dog days of NFL offseason time filling tradition of naming the Top 100 players and since I have little better to do on this site, I’ll play along.  The first member of the Chicago Bears to be featured in the 2013 NFL’s Top 100 is linebacker Lance Briggs, coming in at #83 on the list.

Last season, Briggs checked in at #72, so he’s dropped 11 positions in the rankings.  Here’s the link to NFL.com’s segment on Briggs in their latest Top 100.

Briggs was joined on the 2012 list by teammates Brian Urlacher (51), Devin Hester (48), Matt Forte (33) and Julius Peppers (26).  I wonder which if any of those teammates make the list?  Urlacher is no longer with the team while Hester and Forte had down years.  I suspect Peppers will get in with a drop in his ranking.  I would be shocked if Peanut Tillman didn’t make the list and Brandon Marshall is a shoe-in to make it.

We all know these rankings are foolish, but as we embark on the dog days of the offseason, after free agency and the draft, this is what we’re reduced to.

BEAR DOWN!!!
