Chicago Bears Sedrick Ellis Doesn’t Report And Heads To Retirement

Defensive Tackle Sedrick Ellis didn’t report to camp, and according to reports he is planning on retiring from the NFL instead of reporting to Bears Camp.

The Bears organization seems like the loser financially in this deal with some of his contract guaranteed.

Ellis was the 7th overall pick of the 2008 draft and his career was quite disappointing and now he goes away with barely a whisper. Ellis was the only player on the Bears roster not to report to camp.

So much for the new start with the Bears for Ellis! Only 45 days until Bears play the Bengals!

This move definitely stings, especially if you think the Bears chose Ellis instead of re-signing Izzy. Creates a void in the middle of the DL. Will they sign a vet or bring in a veteran free agent? Matt Toeaina and Amobi Okoye are right there for ya.

It is sooo difficult to measure the heart and will of a person…us average people would give parts of our anatomy to have the career Ellis did and be financially set for life if were were smart with our money. Ellis was projected as rotational and given the lack of will, I suspect he would not have amounted to too much…sign Okoye as he is a more than capable rotational player and very young still too.
