We decided to do a countdown to the Chicago Bears season opener on September 8th versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, we decided to combine the countdown with a roster preview of sorts.
We’re Tommy Zbikowski days away from the start of the season. If you don’t know who that is, he might just punch you in the face. When he’s not playing football, Zbikowski does a little boxing, where he’s 4-0 as a professional.
Zibby is a local kid and was an all-state talent out of Buffalo Grove, IL. The quarterback/defensive back took his talents to South Bend where he became a standout in the secondary. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the 2008 draft, but with the deep talent in the Ravens secondary, he was mostly a special teams contributor.
Zbikowski missed on his chance for the ring with the Ravens as he followed his defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano to Indy last season.
Zbikowski is a veteran presence that could be a valuable asset for the Bears on special teams and as a backup safety. Just the name Zbikowski warms the cockles of Da Coach’s heart, with the sound of Grabowskis danced in his head.
We’re 36 days from kickoff. Are you ready???
