Countdown to Kickoff… Walter Payton Days Until Chicago Bears Season Opener

We decided to do a countdown to the Chicago Bears season opener on September 8th versus the Cincinnati Bengals.  Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, we decided to combine the countdown with a roster preview of sorts.

We’re 34 days away from the start of the season.  How Sweetness is that?  When you think Chicago Bears football and #34, there can be only one and that’s Walter Payton.

Walter Payton was probably my first sports hero.  He’s probably why I’m obsessed with the Chicago Bears and will always hold a special place in my heart.  It wasn’t just his talent or his ability that stood out to me when I watched Payton, it was his passion and raw emotion that made me a lifelong fan.

It’s clear that no one is going to catch Payton’s 16,726 rushing yards for the Bears and Matt Forte’s best chance is to hope become #2 all time rusher in team history.  It’s also clear that no one will match him on or off the field.
