A few more musings…

The pick-6 Cutler threw was on WR Alshon Jeffery. I hate that all interceptions are given to the QB regardless of circumstance and this one should not be on Cutler’s stat sheet.

The Bears D is feast or famine. They created another turnover (Tillman’s INT) which led to points but they also gave up almost 500 yards of offense. Brutal.

DL Corey Wootton is a player. He has been put into a tough spot and is playing on the interior of the D-line as a D-end, and he is playing well. I hope the Bears see his value when it is time to give out new contracts. I also hope they get him some D-line help soon!

I don’t know what happened but I assume that K Robbie Gould was expecting the ball to pull just a little instead of having it continue to go straight the entire time. It’s only one miss, but it could have changed the play calling dynamic at the end of the game.

I know there was a lot of folks talking about DE Julius Peppers being run or bowled over late in the game, but here is the deal; he was trying to make a play by stripping the ball. You can clearly see him repeatedly pushing and shoving and slapping at the ball. I thought he should have just gone for the tackle myself but that is not what happened. Charles Tillman did the same thing a few years ago against Seattle and that play went for a TD.

DL Stephen Paea has a great motor and got a lot of push into the backfield; the problem is that he would typically get too much push and would take himself out of the play.

Washington S Brandon Meriweather is a punk is a foolish and dangerous player. He makes really poor decisions and is going to end someone’s career if he doesn’t stop (if he does end someone’s career, I hope it is his own). I am glad he was suspended for 2 games and I hope that they add to it during the appeal (not going to happen unfortunately), especially after he joked about not going to have much money after being fined for his stupidity.

The onside kick was a surprise and thing of beauty! Unfortunately, WR/KR Eric Weems was off sides by the smallest of margins, but he was still off sides. That was a great play call though. Gutsy.

The onside kick was a microcosm of the game for the Bears: Close, but not quite there.

What did you see Bears fans? What did you like or dislike? What disappointed you the most? What gives you hope for the rest of the season and for the future?
