I wish the Bears and Redskins were in the same division, because I’d love to see how this matchup would play out on the field if these teams were to take to the gridiron again this season.  Cheap shot artist extraordinaire Brandon Meriweather proved he can dish out the cheap shots off the field as well as he does on the field.

The Bears were calling for Meriweather to be suspended and even kicked out of the league after the Bears’ 45-41 loss to the ‘Skins, a game in which the Washington safety was penalized twice for personal fouls.  Brandon Marshall, one of Meriweather’s targets, was clear on his thoughts about Meriweather:

“I respect the league trying to better our game,” Marshall said after that game. “Guys like that, maybe he needs to get suspended or taken out of the game completely.”

I guess Meriweather took exception to Marshall’s comments when he responded today:

“He feels like I need to be kicked out of the league, I feel like people who beat their girlfriends should be kicked out of the league, too,” Meriweather said.

“You tell me who you’d rather have?” Meriweather said. “Someone who plays aggressive on the field or someone who beat up their girlfriend?”

I would much rather have a guy who messed up and is doing everything he can to make ammends and help others than a guy who messes up, continues to do so and is unremorseful for his actions. I was happy to see Meriweather not come back to Chicago. Marshall has his moments but overall has been a great husband and teammate.

Marshall is no angel but Meriweather is just flagrant in his stupidity right now.

Tackle at the waist, if you can’t make a tackle w/o launching yourself, you obviously do not have the skills to play

  • ManGod

Players of Brandon Meriwether’s mentality should remain quiet, not speak and learn how to perform the basics of a tackle…shoulder squared to the waist or mid-section, wrap both arms around opponent and drive through the tackle with your legs…not launching oneself crown of helmet first into the face, head or knees of the opponent. By his own tweet his sheer stupidity and lack of tackling skill set is revealed as well as his direct motivation which he proclaims to be is to injure the opponent and knock them out of the game or worse, their livelihood. But, where is Coach Shanahan and his thoughts with regards to the open stupidity and intent of Meriwether’s’ comments????

Cheap shot when Mayflower talks about a man’s wife and personal life. What next, children? Keep it on the field! and keep it man to man!

Cheap shot when a man can’t stand up to another man without entering in a man’s wife and personal family issues. What next? children. Keep it on the field! and keep it man to man!
