I feel like it’s a little overkill on the JibJab videos, but with Hanukkah and Thanksgiving at the same time, I’m left with no choice.
My Thanksgiving e-card from Jib Jab features the group of Chicago Bears I’m most thankful for, the offensive line.
Starring (left to right) Jermon Bushrod, Matt Slauson, Roberto Garza, Kyle Long and Jordan Mills.
The Bears offense looks quite a bit different this season and a big part of that is the overhauled offensive line. Rookies Kyle Long and Jordan Mills are going through on-the-job training on the right side, while free agents Jermon Bushrod and Matt Slauson have stepped in and immediately contributed around Roberto Garza, the only holdover from last season’s group.
You have to like the potential for the young core of this group. Offensive lines thrive when they can spend years together to gel and really get to know one another. Jermon Bushrod, Kyle Long and Jordan Mills will be around for a few years and I’d like to see Phil Emery sign Matt Slauson to a long-term extension while going out and drafting Roberto Garza’s successor.
Even though the line has improved, it hasn’t prevented Jay Cutler from being sidelined with a couple of nagging injuries. Regardless, I’m sure Cutler and Josh McCown would say that they’re thankful for this group.
Let’s go around the table and say which Bears we’re most thankful for.
