Matt Forte reached a notable milestone in the first quarter of the Bears game against the Vikings, moving into second place all time on the Chicago Bears’ list for all time yards from scrimmage.  Forte passed Neal Anderson with 8930 yards from scrimmage and counting.

Forte had already been the Bears’ second all time rusher with 6178 heading into the game.  Anderson had 6166 rushing and 2763 receiving in 116 games with the Bears.  Forte accomplished the feat in his 87th game with the Bears.

There’s no threat for Forte to break the all time yards from scrimmage or the all time rushing marks for the Bears.  That’s hallowed ground.  The late, great Walter Payton had 16726 rushing and a total of 21264 from scrimmage in 190 games with the Bears.  Forte would not only have to more than double the games he’s played but he’ll need to increase his productivity in the tail end of his already solid Bears career to catch the Hall of Famer’s numbers.

As great as Forte has been with the Bears, he appears destined to be second all time on a lot of Bears lists.

Congrats to Forte!
