3rd Round (82): SS Deone Bucannon, Washington St (6’1, 215) – Continuing on my mission to make the Bears defense feared again, Bucannon was one of the biggest hitters in college football last year. He’s like a missile in run support and laid out plenty of receivers who were bold enough to test the middle of the field. His aggression does lead to too many missed tackles and penalties, but when he connects it’s fun to watch. Bucannon is well-built and basically gives the defense another linebacker in the box on running plays. He has good speed and plenty of range in pass coverage. Physically he has all the tools to be an all-pro safety and he’ll get there if he can head-hunt a little less and improve his tackling technique. Great value in the 3rd round.

Other options: (MLB Yavin Smallwood, OLB Telvin Smith, CB Pierre Desir, S Ed Reynolds, DT Caraun Reid)
