We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

The next 62 days better go by quickly because the anticipation of the new season is killing me. The offense should be amazing. The defense should be adequate. The season should be exciting as hell.

Eben Britton is a swing guard going into his sixth professional season, his second with the Bears. He was drafted out of the University of Arizona to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009. He signed with the Bears in 2013 and was a good backup lineman during the campaign. The 2014 season should be no different. I will say, however, that God forbid one of the Bears offensive linemen goes down this season, I see Britton as being a serviceable replacement. He is a solid backup. He is very versatile, being able to play all the positions along the offensive line. He is also a back up tight end, used primarily for blocking purposes. He is a valuable asset to the offensive unit and I expect him to fill his role nicely.

Another notable #62 for the Chicago Bears is former guard Mark Bortz. This two time Pro bowler and a key member of the 1985 Super Bowl team. He also holds the record for most postseason appearances by a Bear with 13. He was on the team for 11 years.
