Bronko Nagurski Days Until Bears Season Opener

We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again. In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

We’re Bronko Nagurski days from kickoff.  He’s one of the greatest Bears of all time, and has, hands down, the coolest name in football history. Not only was he an incredible football player, but he also led a successful wrestling career. Nagurski symbolized the toughness of the Chicago Bears organization. His style of play was beyond aggressive, and Nagurski played with an almost violent demeanor. He played both offense and defense, and he helped the Bears win two league championships in his career.

In 1993, the Bronko Nagurski award was introduced. It’s awarded to the best defensive player in college football.
