Is There Room in Chicago for Adam Gase and Brandon Marshall?

Reports emerged late Tuesday that Adam Gase is headed to Chicago to interview for the vacant offensive coordinator position.

It’s been an odd road for Gase.  He started off as THE hot coordinator when the offseason began and as head coaching jobs were scooped up, Gase sort of faded to the background as even an offensive coordinator.  Now, as the Bears whittle down their choices for offensive coordinator, Gase appears to be back in the game, along with this list from ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Charlie Weis is a scary option who was seen around Halas Hall on Tuesday.

An interesting dynamic comes into play if Gase is hired as the Bears offensive coordinator.  Adam Gase and Brandon Marshall have ties back to their days in Denver.  Gase was Brandon Marshall’s position coach in Denver in 2009.  It’s interesting because Gase, as a young positional coach, was dealing with a different Brandon Marshall to the one we’ve seen here in Chicago over most of his stint with the Bears.

As Marshall appeared to become a distraction for the Bears in 2014, it’s nothing compared to how he acted in Gase’s first season with the Broncos as the wide receivers coach:

"The controversial wide receiver continues to make waves in Denver. He made a clown of himself Wednesday in practice, goofing off throughout. He walked when he was supposed to jog, punted a football across the field at the end of a drill, used a blocking dummy to knock receivers off their routes instead of running his routes and knocked down a pass instead of catching it."

Marshall had 101 catches for over 1100 yards and 10 TD’s that season, but successfully forced his way out of Denver with a trade to the Dolphins.

The relationship between Marshall and Gase is unclear, but I can’t imagine it would be that great.

Besides, a number of reports indicate that Bears brass have tired of Marshall’s act and want him out of town.   If Gase comes to Chicago, it could be a sign that John Fox and Ryan Pace will move to get rid of Marshall.

What do you think about Gase as an offensive coordinator?  Is he a product of Peyton Manning or do you think he’s got what it takes to turn the Bears offense around?  What do you think about Brandon Marshall?  Do you think he’ll be with the Bears when they open the 2015 season?  Does Gase potentially coming to town change the dynamic?  Is there room in Chicago for Adam Gase and Brandon Marshall?
