The guys in front of Jay Cutler are behind Jay Cutler.  Over the last few weeks both Kyle Long and Jermon Bushrod have voiced their support for embattled quarterback Jay Cutler.

It started with Kyle Long and his Game of Thrones pledge to the “king of the North” as the new league year started and another year of the Cutler contract was triggered:

Of course that backfired when Packer OT TJ Lang tweeted back at Long:

ZING!

Now that the Bears are back to work, Jermon Bushrod was interviewed and backed his quarterback:

"“I’m behind him. The offensive line is behind him. We love the guy. I see the work he puts in. We have to be better. We all have to be better around him. We have to give him the looks that he needs. We have to give him the time that he needs back there. Everyone has to do their part and he’s going to do his part. He wants to win just like the rest of us.”"

Bushrod gives Cutler extra credit for his work ethic:

"“The way people talk about him, they would feel pretty bad about themselves after they got the chance to meet him,” Bushrod said. “I see the guy every day. I see what he does. We all have to be better. We all have to rally around each other and we have to know that when times get tough, we have to be closer. When we are having some success we have to be closer. We have to have the same mindset and our coaching staff will do that.”"

Does Bushrod know that you shouldn’t confuse activity with accomplishment?

Matt Slauson also chimed in with some more, ahem, extreme Cutler love:

"“I have every confidence in (Cutler) — his ability, his intelligence,” Slauson recently told WGN radio.”The guy can be the best in the league. We just have to do a better job, as a team, supporting him. We didn’t do a very good job of that last year.”Slauson wasn’t finished heaping praise on his up-and-down passer, framing the 31-year-old Cutler as a Hall of Famer in waiting.“Jay can be every bit of a Tom Brady, a Peyton Manning, an Aaron Rodgers,” Slauson said. “He can be them, if not more.”"

Are we sure Slauson isn’t recovering from a brain injury and not a torn pectoral muscle?  That’s a little over the top, but it speaks to the confidence that Cutler’s teammates have in him.  If guys didn’t believe in him, they could dial down the effusive praise.

Regardless of what fans or the media or outsiders think about Jay Cutler, his Chicago Bears teammates believe in him.  His offensive linemen, those charged with protecting Cutler, have got his back.
