The Chicago Bears are in dire need of help on defense. The addition of young talent that can be shaped and molded in Vic Fangio’s system will help the team get closer to win a championship. There is a good chance that the Bears will draft a talent like Shaq Thompson versatility. His ability to help in the running game

College: Shaq Thompson had an impressive career at Washington. In 2014 he scored four touchdowns on defense and two on offense which lead to him being awarded the Paul Hornung Award.

Strengths: Although criticized for his small frame Thompson makes up for it by being an extremely versatile player, with the talent to play outside or inside linebacker.

Weaknesses: Scouts worry that he is undersized and lacks strength causing inconsistencies in his tackling ability. Also, his hand coordination skills are concerning because at times he can be easily blocked by linemen.

Bears Fit: Considering the Bears are weak at the linebacker position, if drafted Thompson would be put in the rotation quite quickly. His speed and ability to close gaps against strong running backs would be much-needed when facing some of the strong running games in the NFC North. Even with his weaknesses, he would be able to grow and contribute to the defense under the tutelage of Fangio

Draft Protection: Due to his size Thompson is expected to go somewhere in the middle of the second round.
