Happy Monday Bears’ fans! I hope all the dads out there enjoyed their Father’s Day or you got to spend time with your dads.  Check out our latest installment of Bear Dawn for Monday June 22nd, your one stop shop for all Chicago Bears news and notes from the internet.

Second round draft pick, defensive tackle Eddie Goldman impressed coaches during minicamp.  So far, so good.  But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, as head coach John Fox reminds us, when asked what he’s looking for:

"“Really just strength at the point. Some of the transition from run to pass. How well can a guy convert to a pass rush. How stout they are. Pad level always has a little bit to do with that. So a lot of the things we’re teaching here in the underwear, we see if they translate into pads.”"

Jared Allen is preparing for his transition from DE to OLB.  It’s gone well so far even though Allen was a little skeptical about the position change at first:

"“When a guy like [Fangio] comes in and he thinks you can be successful in his defense, you give it a try,” Allen said. “I think it was refreshing from the standpoint I’ve been able to re-learn some of the game of football.”"

Allen is one of four players that the Chicago Tribune’s Dan Wiederer says need to step up their games in training camp.

Speaking of the defense, the Chicago Tribune’s Matt Bowen assures us that the new Bears scheme isn’t the same boring defense you’ve grown accustomed to the last few years.

"This stuff is creative, it’s cool and it’s something this city hasn’t seen for more than a decade. Gone are the standard four-man fronts, the chalkboard schemes and the weekly pre-snap disguises we could all figure out from our living rooms on Sundays."

Matt Bowen also gives us a cool NFL 101 post, this time focusing on the basics of the prevent defense.

Pernell McPhee is adding some versatility to his game, including dropping into coverage.

Jay Cutler tried to downplay his wife’s comments about Chicago not being like home.   Yeah, they have lots of money in several Chicago banks, right Jay?
