Chicago Football is killing time until Training Camp by counting down the 20 most important players to the Bears success in 2015.  Checking in at Bear Necessities #20, is rookie DT Eddie Goldman:

"If we knew that the second-round pick out of Florida State was going to be the Bears’ Day One starter at nose tackle, he’d be way higher — maybe even top 10 considering the importance of the position in a 3-4 defense. However, we saw so many combinations during OTAs and minicamp along the D-line, it’s hard to project anything at this juncture — though we should note that Goldman’s rookie status may have kept him from a lot of first-team reps as he gets acclimated to the NFL game."

Former Bears wide receiver Curtis Conway did a piece for NFL Total Access where he ranked the franchise’s Top 5 players.  It’s an interesting list, but I have to question #4.

Spoiler alert – one of the guys on Conway’s list talked about his transition from the gridiron to Hollywood.

ESPN’s NFC North debates rage on, asking if the Bears have done enough in the offseason to become a Top 20 defense.  Ben Goessling, ESPN’s Vikings beat writer, sort of sums up the sentiment from the rest of the NFC North writers:

"Ben Goessling, Vikings: I don’t know that they have enough pieces who fit their new 3-4 scheme to assume anything yet. I like the decision to hire Vic Fangio, whose defenses were in the top 5 in yards allowed each year in San Francisco. But until we see how Fangio makes all the pieces work, I’m skeptical."
