Alshon Jeffery Injured: Bears Receiver Day-to-Day

Once again, the Chicago Bears may be playing another game without their best receiver. Alshon Jeffery has been deemed day-to-day after injuring his groin in practice. Jeffery missed a month of playing time earlier this season because of a hamstring issue.

This is somewhat alarming. On Sunday, the Bears travel to St. Louis to face one of the most vaunted defenses they’ll play all year. Injuries never come at opportune moments, but the timing of this one is beyond frustrating. Jeffery’s recent play has been exceptional, we’re talking “Bear for life” type performances.

With Matt Forte‘s status for this weekend unknown, the Bears offense may sputter without their best receiving threats. If Jeffery can’t go, and assuming Eddie Royal is still injured, I’d expect Marquess Wilson and Cameron Meredith to be starting at receiver.

Earlier this week, the Bears activated wide receiver Deonte Thompson from the practice squad. Thompson was a speedster at Florida, boasting a 4.31 forty yard dash. Because the Bears are so thin at receiver, it’s entirely possible that we see Thompson this weekend.
