Jordan Howard has been nominated for an award after another great performance on Monday night.

Chicago Bears rookie running back Jordan Howard has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week after putting up over 200 yards from scrimmage on Monday night in the Bears’ 20-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Howard set the tone on the Bears’ first possession when he busted loose for a big gain that dug the Bears out from the shadow of the Vikings goalposts and set the team up for their first points of the night:

Howard hit paydirt later in the game on a short toss play down near the goal line, finishing the night with 153 rushing yards and a touchdown.  He also added four catches for 49 yards to finish the day over 200 total yards from scrimmage.  Not bad for the rookie who was a healthy scratch in Week 1.  Howard didn’t get any significant opportunities until  starter Jeremy Langford went down with an ankle injury.  Howard hasn’t looked back since, notching three 100 yard rushing games since Week 4.

With over 500 rushing yards on just 99 attempts, Howard is on pace for over 1000 yards on the season.  If he can get to 1000 yards, it would make him the first Bears rookie runner to achieve that mark since Matt Forte did it in 2008.

Other nominees for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week include DeMarco Murray, who rushed for 123 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown in the Tennessee Titans’ 36-22 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jonathan Stewart who powered the Carolina Panthers to a 30-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals with 95 rushing yards and two rushing TD’s.
