Jay Cutler raised a bunch of money for Juvenile Diabetes over the weekend and in the process, addressed the subject of the offseason workouts with the Sun Times:
"“…now is the time for everyone to kind of get together and brush it off, and we’re going to do that here in the next couple of weeks. Everything is locked and loaded.”"
Jay doesn’t plan on inviting Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers and Co. to the workouts:
"“I mean, those defenders have been in the system for eight years, nine years,” Cutler said. “What are they gonna do?“What am I going to tell Lach?” Cutler said, referring to linebacker Brian Urlacher. “ ‘Your drop is a little short. Sorry, buddy.’ Offensively, we have a lot of room to improve.”"
Fair point by Jay. I wonder if he just doesn’t want to have to run for his life. This needs to be more than just just Devin Hester, Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett running around. If I’m JC, I’m sure to invite Gabe Carimi, Olin Kreutz and the rest of the O-line.
The Bears are a little behind many other teams in the league, who have already been doing some unofficial workouts for weeks now, but they can quickly catch up. I know a lot of Bears fans have been clamoring for someone to step up (cough, cough) Jay Cutler, to get this team organized in the face of this lockout. It’s about time!
