Whitney Houston’s Super Bowl XXV National Anthem was Best Ever

Just the other day I was going back and forth with some folks who were calling Kelly Clarkson’s version of the Star Spangled Banner before last week’s Super Bowl as the best ever.  I know I’m an old timer with respect to today’s web generation, but the best National Anthem ever at a Super Bowl was Whitney Houston’s version before Super Bowl XXV in 1991.

The nation had just gone to war in the first Iraqi war and we were feeling especially patriotic.  It was the first time my generation had our troops at war.  Houston’s anthem hit just the right note with all of us.

Whitney, you will be missed!
