Besides watching a bunch of college kids running around in shorts this weekend, the NFL’s Scouting Combine is the place to be for Free Agent deals to be made.  Whenever you get agents, front office guys, coaches and the media in one place, there is sure to be some wheeling and dealing and plenty of rumors swirling.

The latest from the Chicago Tribune is that the Bears and Matt Forte’s people will be talking about a new deal this weekend.

"Matt Forte and the Chicago Bears will start talking contract again this weekend, according to a report. With the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis this weekend, new Bears GM Phil Emery and Forte’s agents are all there and will renew discussions, a league source told the NFL Network."

With the Franchise Tag hanging over his head and a deadline to be tagged by March 5th, this is a last ditch effort from Forte’s people to get their guy a long term deal.  He reportedly turned down $13-$14 million last season and faces a $7.7 million one year deal in 2012.  Don’t be surprised if the Bears don’t blink and use the tag.
