Closer Look at Bears Undrafted Free Agent James Brown

The Bears avoided drafting an offensive lineman, but may have stolen a project for Mike Tice to work with in undrafted free agent James Brown.  He played LT at Troy, but he projects moving inside to guard at the NFL level.  Just what we need, another guard!

Many pundits, especially Mel Kiper Jr., projected the 6’4″ 306 Brown to be a middle round selection.  You know, about the time we were screaming at our TV’s for drafting a fullback to play tight end.

The Bears were burning up his phone line when he went undrafted.  Not surprising that he chose the Bears among many suitors, since he figures he actually has a shot to make the team.

Don’t expect major contributions from Brown this season, but he could be a practice squad guy that the Bears can try to develop.  Here’s a little snippet on Brown from Pro Football Weekly.
