Lovie Smith addressed the media on Monday and the topic of Matt Forte’s injured ankle was discussed.  Lovie disputes the medical reports of all of us amateur doctors out there reporting that Forte is suffering from the dreaded “high ankle sprain.”

"“Matt did go down with an ankle injury. It’s not a high ankle sprain, as has been reported,” Smith said on WBBM (780-AM). “But right now, you know when you don’t finish the game and he still has some soreness, we’ll continue to monitor it, but we felt we needed another running back here, that’s why we brought back a guy who knows our system and has played good ball for us in Kahlil Bell.”"

Uh, if the Forte injury wasn’t serious – high sprain or low sprain – why the need for Bell?  You bring a guy in if you’re looking at multiple weeks on the sidelines.  I’ll stand by my projection that Forte sits until after the Bye week vs Detroit in Week 7.

In the meantime, Bush and Bell should be good to go vs the Rams this week, whose starting running back Steven Jackson may have an injury of his own to deal with heading into the Week 3 matchup at Soldier Field.
