Maybe I was mesmerized by reading Twitter posts last night, but of course I was expecting the Chicago Bears to sign Jason Babin this morning to fill the open roster spot on the Bears roster. While looking at Babin’s resume he really only has had two good seasons. One was before his big contract and the other was the following season while he collected 12.5 sacks to get his big contract and 18 last season after getting his payday. Babin has 5.5 sacks this season and stories are circulating that the Eagles dumped him because he quit on his team, while the organization is stating that they just want to get younger players on the field. If he quit on the team I hope he doesn’t even sniff Halas Hall, but if he’s just a product of a team that is falling apart like Andy Reid’s pant seams then I would hope that Emery is doing due diligence in seeing if there is any tread left on Babin’s tires for the stretch run.
Today’s minor move to fill the last roster spot was signing linebacker Patrick Trahan from the practice squad, and the Bears also re-signed defensive end Ashton Whiteside to the practice squad.
What do you think? Should the Bears have any interest in Jason Babin?
