To add to the misery of Brian Urlacher’s day last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Urlacher picked up a $21,000 fine for his horse collar tackle of Leon Washington.  It was the second consecutive week that Urlacher was flagged during a game for a horse collar tackle, and now it is the second consecutive weekday that he has received an envelope from the league office wanting a fine paid.

Neither of the horse collar tackles were violent that caused injuries unlike the ones made famous by Roy Williams of the Cowboys before being outlawed for the injuries it was creating.  The Urlacher tackles were by rule a horse collar which in this day and age equals automatic fine.

There will be no hat trick of horse collars for Urlacher this week after his apparent season ending injury. Hopefully, the Bears will rally around it’s aging, hurt, legend and clinch a playoff spot so we can see Urlacher at least one more time come out of the tunnel wearing #54!
