The Complete Chicago Bears 2012 Year in Review
November 11, 2012 – Bears fall 13-6 to Houston Texans. Jay Cutler suffers a concussion and misses the second half. This is where the season started to fall apart.
November 19, 2012 – as Jason Campbell starts, the Bears get trounced 32-7 in San Francisco. I think Aldon Smith just got another sack.
November 23, 2012 – Gabe Carimi is benched and Chilo Rachal quits the team.
November 25, 2012 – Jay Cutler returns and Bears end skid, beat Vikings 28-10. Lance Louis’ season ended by cheap shot block by Jared Allen.
December 2, 2012 – Bears comeback against the Seahawks falls short as they fall 23-17 in overtime. The defense collapsed, giving up consecutive 97 and 80 yard drives at the end of regulation and start of overtime. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall had one of the most memorable moments of the season, driving the Bears down the field with seconds left in regulation to tie the game and force OT. Brian Urlacher injures his hamstring and could miss the rest of the season.
December 9, 2012 – Bears fall to the Vikings 21-14 as Jay Cutler is injured again and cannot finish the game.
December 16, 2012 – Packers claim NFC North title on Bears home field with 21-13 victory.
December 23, 2012 – Bears defeat Arizona Cardinals 28-13 to keep faint playoff hopes alive. Vikings upset of Texans puts them in driver’s seat for #6 seed in the playoffs, forcing the Bears to root for the Packers to beat the Vikings in Week 17 for chance to clinch last playoff spot.
December 30, 2012 – The Bears hang on to beat the Detroit Lions 26-24 to finish the 2012 season with a 10-6 record, but since the Vikings beat the Packers the Bears are out of the playoffs.
December 31, 2012 – The Chicago Bears FIRE LOVIE SMITH.
It was a crazy year for the Bears. The year was bookended by firings – Jerry Angelo to start the year and Lovie Smith to end the season. What will 2013 bring? New head coach and new coordinators are coming for sure. Could it mark the official end of the Brian Urlacher era? There is no offseason for us so stay tuned to Bear Goggles On for all your Bears news.
