Happy Birthday to Shaun Gayle a member of the Super Bowl Shufflin Crew! Gayle, who turns 51 today, played 12 seasons in the NFL and all but his last one was in a Chicago Bears jersey. During his career he had two sacks and made 16 interceptions.
The real reason behind bringing up Gayle on his birthday is so we can relive the
punt in the 85 playoffs. Gayle was the Bear that picked up the whiff, I mean 5 yard punt and ran it in for the touchdown and the record for shortest punt return for a touchdown.
There are a lot of plays that I remember from the 85 Bears season but watching Landeta totally miss the ball on his punt and the Bears scoring a touchdown on the same play makes me laugh to this day.
Hopefully the Bears will lay the groundwork in the upcoming free agency period for another Super Bowl Championship run and BearGoggleson will have you covered with all the breaking news from Halas Hall!
