Is this how it is really going to end for a Chicago Bear legend? In the middle of March in the middle of the week in the middle of the day, for the first time in his professional football career Brian Urlacher is not a Chicago Bear but an unrestricted free agent after the Bears didn’t re-sign the Bears legend before the clock struck 3pm.

Urlacher can still of course re-sign with the Bears but on this day, the 13 year Bear that  has worn the Bears uniform since the calendar turned to 2000 now is a free agent.  Most teenagers can’t even remember a Bears defense that wasn’t led by #54, but when the clock struck 3pm he was for the first time since leaving the University of New Mexico  not under contract with the Chicago Bears. Urlacher may have lost a step but is he really no longer a valuable commodity to the franchise?

1,229 tackles, 41.5 sacks, 22 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles and one huge leader could be gone forever.

What do you think? Will Urlacher re-sign with the Bears or finish his career with another franchise?
