Reader’s Mock Draft: Kansas City Chiefs Are On the Clock
Jan 4, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Texas A
We’re just over a month away from the NFL draft and Free Agency has slowed down to a simmer. I thought it was just about time to bring back the Reader’s Mock Draft, where you become the experts. Here’s how it works. Every day or two, I’ll do a little profile on the next team on the clock and put a poll at the end of the post. You vote for which player you think the team will chose and so on and so on.
First up, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have had quite the offseason. First, they cleaned house and brought in Andy Reid to be their head coach and John Dorsey as the GM. Then they pulled off a trade to acquire quarterback Alex Smith from the San Francisco 49ers. They managed to re-sign wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and applied the franchise tag to left tackle. They surprisingly cut right tackle Eric Winston.
They weren’t done yet. In Free Agency, the Chiefs signed CB’s Sean Smith and Dunta Robinson, WR Donnie Avery, backup quarterback Chase Daniel and TE Anthony Fasona while letting Matt Cassel walk.
The Chiefs didn’t earn the top pick in the draft for no reason. Despite some talent, they still have a lot of holes. They’ve done a decent job trying to address those concerns with their moves thus far, but they still have plenty of needs. The Chiefs created a hole at offensive tackle by letting Winston go. Like most all teams, they could use a pass rusher and an inside linebacker.
Most mock drafts have the Chiefs selecting Texas A&M OT Luke Joekel but Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher has been gaining steam. Could the Chiefs continue to surprise and take quarterback Geno Smith or take DT Sharrif Floyd, who’s been tabbed in a few mocks. Let’s start the Reader’s Mock Draft there. Vote in our poll and post your Comments.
Up next, the Jacksonville Jaguars…
