We’re nearing the completion of our Reader’s Mock draft and the rivals to the North, the Green Bay Packers, are next on the clock. The Packers took a step back in 2012 and that’s tough to say considering they ended the season at 11-5. Another disappointing playoff exit following their unlikely Super Bowl run a few years ago leaves the Packers searching to address some key needs to try to stay atop the NFC North and make another run at a Lombardi Trophy.
In the offseason so far, the makeup of this team has changed quite a bit. Charles Woodson is gone (to the cheers of Jay Cutler) and wide receivers Greg Jennings and Donald Driver are gone to free agency and retirement respectively. That puts the offensive burden on Jordy Nelson and up-and-comer Randall Cobb. Would the Packers look to bolster their wide receiving corp to add some depth? Could a tight end upgrade be in order? Might they go for a rush linebacker opposite the recently extended Clay Matthews or a safety to fill Woodson’s shoes? With the best offensive linemen off the board, maybe they reach for a center to replace the retired Jeff Saturday?
