The draft is over rookie mini-camps are beginning so what is there really left to think about until training camps begin. If your really into fantasy football sign up for mock draft today. There are plenty sites out there that run mock drafts the one I use is Antsports.com Here are some reasons to jump into a mock draft if you are serious about winning your league come December.
1. Preparation- How many fantasy football drafts have you been to that half the guys have just purchased a fantasy football magazine or worse just show up and start picking guys that are out for the season with injury or better yet not even on a roster. Being prepared gives you the ability to make sound draft selections instead of being unprepared and not getting the players you want to draft.
2. Get a Feel For Where Players Are Getting Drafted- Every season it’s usually easy to tell who to top 3 are going to be, but if you want to know if Tom Brady is going to be a Top 5 or Top 10 pick when you have pick 7 in your draft then a mock draft if perfect. It also tells you the average round a player like Andre Johnson is getting drafted or how long you can wait to draft Russell Wilson. While doing mock drafts, it also gives you a sort of guideline to what round this season’s rookies are getting drafted. If you like Eddie Lacy do you need to grab him in the 5th round or is he still hanging around in the 7th round.
3. Is your Sleeper really a Sleeper?– Every year everyone has a sleeper pick that they think will put them over the edge. Mock drafts are great to find out if your guy is a sleeper or someone on everyone’s radar. The year before Adrian Foster broke out for the Texans doing mock drafts proved that he wouldn’t be a sleeper but people were picking him in the first two rounds. Danny Amendola was going late in the mock drafts last year and he helped a lot of owners win games early on in the season before his injury. If you do a lot of mocks sometimes other owners sleepers keep popping up rounds earlier than expected which can also help in your preparation for the draft.
4. It’s Fun– When the NBA and NHL playoffs are over and we are stuck in the dog days of summer watching bad baseball, mock drafts are fun to do. The NFL season always seems so far away so doing a mock draft a week or a month during the summer not only gets you ready for your draft but its something entertaining to do to pass the time before NFL really starts.
