We decided to do a countdown to the Chicago Bears season opener on September 8th versus the Cincinnati Bengals.  Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, we decided to combine the countdown with a roster preview of sorts.

We’re CJ Wilson days from the start of the Bears season.  That’s 39 days for those of you who aren’t familiar with the rookie cornerback out of NC State.  WIlson went undrafted and the Bears scooped him up.  Wilson’s measurables jump out.  He’s 5’11 and weighs 187, running a sub-4.4 forty yard dash.

He’s impressed at rookie minicamp and even started taking second team reps.  The Bears didn’t select any cornerbacks in the 2013 draft and there aren’t many proven corners behind starters Peanut Tillman and Tim Jennings, so Wilson could challenge for a roster spot.  He’ll be a player to keep an eye on during camp and preseason games.

There haven’t been too many notable 39’s in Bears history.  Curtis Enis actually wore 39 in his rookie season, before switching to 44.  Otherwise, Jeremy Lincoln was a solid DB who played for the Bears in the mid-90’s.

We’re 39 days from kickoff.  Are you ready???
