DJ Williams, meet Wally Pipp.  Who’s Wally Pipp you ask?  He was the Yankees first baseman who had a bad headache and was given the day off.  Lou Gehrig was given the job and started an iron man streak that lasted 2130 games.  Pipp never saw the starting lineup again.

DJ Williams was the presumed starter heading into training camp, but a calf injury has him sidelined.   Rookie Jon Bostic has been performing well in camp, but a strong outing in the first preseason game puts him in a stronger position.  There should be an interesting battle unfolding when Williams returns from injury.

If you thought just relocating JWebb Nation from the west coast to the east coast would make a difference, guess again.  Webb struggled mightily once again.  The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Eben Britton had been showing well in camp, but he didn’t knock anyone’s socks off in his time.  Rookie Jordan Mills looked overmatched on more than one occasion.  When is Jonathan Scott going to be healthy enough to go earn that job???

What do you think?  What positional battles should be heating up after what you saw in the first season game?  Let’s see your thoughts.
