Fantasy Focus: The Dog Days Of Summer #16

Aug 22, 2013; Baltimore, MD, USA; Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (5) drops back to pass against the Carolina Panthers at M#

#16-2012 Joe Flacco-QB Baltimore Ravens- I’ve never been a Flacco fan, but if you look at his numbers he’s very steady with 3,500+ yards a season while throwing in the mid 20’s in TD’s. He’s a 2nd level fantasy quarterback, but with the Super Bowl win he may go earlier than normal.  He’s a 3rd-5th round guy in mock drafts.

Retro-#16-2002 Charlie Garner-RB-Oakland Raiders- Garner was the ultimate weapon at the end of his career with the Raiders with almost as many receiving yards and rushing yards. In 2002 he came up just short of the 1,000/1,000 club when he finished with 962 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns while collecting 941 yards receiving with 4 touchdowns.

Looking Ahead-

ESPN-Chris Johnson-RB Tennessee Titans- Johnson still has the great speed he just doesn’t display it as much as he did in his 2,000 yard rushing season a few years back. With the Bears up 51-12 against the Titans, Johnson broke off an 80 yard run which is the perfect reason purists hate fantasy football because the Titans were destroyed but because of one play Johnson had a great day especially in bonus leagues.

CBS-Jimmy Graham-TE New Orleans Saints Graham is the #1 Tight End entering the season.  I’m extremely high on him and he’s worth the reach when the running backs get thin and the receivers are all around the same talent level.

Good luck to everyone drafting this weekend!
