Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler appeared at practice on Thursday in a cast.  Let’s not call it a walking boot; it’s a cast.  Cutler suffered a high ankle sprain in the Bears’ 21-19 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.  Many fans thought that Cutler had just aggravated his groin as he struggled to move around on the field, but this is evidence that Cutler suffered a pretty serious ankle injury.

Cutler was seen leaving the Bears locker room carrying a walking boot out with him rather than wearing it.  Maybe this is the way team doctors and the Bears force Cutler to immobilize the ankle.

Josh McCown is slated to start this week against the Baltimore Ravens, but judging by this photo, you could conclude that McCown will have the keys to the car for more than one game.  I would have to think that this is longer than a one week injury.

After the Ravens on Sunday, the Bears head to St Louis to face a Rams defense with a tenacious pass rush.  It might be more likely to hope that Cutler could come back for the Vikings game just after Thanksgiving.
