Stop Stacy

The Bears run defense has been abysmal; there’s no other way to slice it.  The ultimate slump-busters.   They are the equivalent of an ugly chick to a slumping baseball player.  Ray Rice, who was having his worst season in recent memory, amassed 40% of his yardage for the SEASON against this Bears run defense.  Only the one win Jacksonville Jaguars are looking up at them in the rush defense rankings.

The Rams let Steven Jackson go in the offseason and had a bit of a quandary at the position to start the season.  Neither Isaiah Pead nor Daryl Richardson seized the top spot and Zac Stacy grabbed the reigns in recent weeks.  He is just the type of bruising back that gives the Bears trouble.  He’s just 5’8″ but he packs a punch.

Like the Bears, the Rams have had to resort to their backup quarterback.  Kellen Clemons shouldn’t be able to beat the Bears through the air, so if the Bears want pull off the W, they need to stop Stacy.

Austin Powers

The Rams traded up to get Tavon Austin in the first round of last season’s draft.  In their last game, Austin showed why, with an electric three touchdown performance to power the Rams and lead them to an upset win over the Indianapolis Colts.  Austin is a threat anywhere on the field and given some of the Bears’ struggles on special teams, he could have a big day.

But Tavon isn’t the only Austin who’s a threat on the Rams.  Austin Pettis is probably their most consistent and polished wide receiver.  A big key for the Bears will be to slow down the Austins. Yeaaahhh baby…
